MYTH: The ACAF steering committee includes two employees of ACA, the non-profit charter management organization (CMO) and those two people will transition to the governing board.
FACT: Ascent Classical Academy Flatirons (ACAF) is a replication school that has partnered with an experienced team of school founders. Replication schools are typically started by members of the network, who have experience with the academic program, parent outreach, and navigating the complex chartering process. This is normal and two members on the ACAF steering committee do indeed work with the network partner. They will not be a part of the Governing Board once the contract is negotiated.
ACAF has assured BVSD of this fact multiple times as seen in the ACAF Application Addendum, page 6, below:
